House and Reflecting Pool at Bore Place

Bore Place House

The history of the manor house goes back to medieval times; a Tudor building was later incorporated into a Jacobean mansion, parts of which remain, with seventeenth and twentieth century additions. Together with the ancient walled garden it is listed Grade II.

It has 12 bedrooms (sleeping up to 23 persons), 4 meeting rooms, and a large kitchen and dining space. 

The Old Stable

A spacious and comfortable farmhouse-style building accessible to wheelchair users.  Accommodation for 19 in 11 bedrooms.

The Small Barn

An attractive timbered building for meeting/socialising space for small groups or family accommodation (two twin bedrooms).  To be used alone or with Large Barn.

The Large Barn

Sensitively restored 17th century  timber barn with timber sprung floor and large doors opening out onto the courtyard.  Seating lecture style for 100, or 50-80 at tables.  Ideal for artwork, dance, drama and music.

The Loft

With windows on three sides, overlooks the whole centre and holds up to 35 people for formal and informal meetings and seminars.

The GranaryThe Granary

Accessible to wheelchair users and suits arts and craft work as well as seating up to 50 people for meetings and lectures.

Equipment available

Whiteboard, flipcharts, OHPs, video recorder, data projector, phones, fax, email and internet access

Gardens

Arch in the gardens at Bore PlaceThe gardens around the Centre offer a calm and refreshing space to meet and work.  They are managed organically and include permaculture and wildlife gardens.

Wheelchair access

The Old Stable has residential accommodation accessible to wheelchair users, and the Large Barn and Granary are accessible daytime meeting spaces.  The mini-field trail close to the stream and gardens is also accessible to wheelchair users.

Car parking

There is a car park at the entrance to the Centre and temporary access to all buildings for dropping off luggage. Click here for a map to reach the centre.

 

Availability - Early booking advised

The Centre is open all year except December 24-January 2 for stays of half day – two weeks or occasionally longer.
