School Trips

We offer a wide range of tutor led activities for Primary and Secondary Schools that enhance learning in a range of curriculum areas, including science, geography, history, design and technology, and art and design. Full list and detailed programmes below.

With access to an organic dairy farm set within acres of land including veg gardens, a variety of natural habitats such as woods, ponds, meadows and gardens, our facilities include classrooms, cooking facilities, toilets and hand washing, risk assessments, pre-visits for teachers and parking for coaches.

KS1 Design and Technology, Art and Design, Science. 
Explore the diversity of colour in the natural environment by dying fabric with natural dyes and creating small scale artworks capturing the seasonal colours in our vegetable garden as well touring our organic dairy farm to appreciate where our food comes from. Risk assessment for the day (pdf)

KS2 Design and Technology, Geography.
This programme encourages an interest in healthy food and the joy of seasonal eating through hands-on harvesting cooking lunch as well as experiencing our working organic dairy farm. Risk assessment for the day (pdf)
 
**NEW** A Summer Dairy Day (pdf) (terms 5 and 6 only) 
Cost: £297 class of up to 30; £251 class of up to 20.
KS1 and KS2 Science, Design and Technology.
This programme makes the connections in food production explicit and enables hands-on seasonal cooking with an emphasis on dairy products. Pupils will tour our organic dairy farm and visit our vegetable garden collect some ingredients for making cheese scones, butter and milkshakes for a picnic lunch. Risk assessment for the day (pdf)
 
**NEW** A Winter Dairy Day (pdf) (terms 2 and 3 only)
Cost: £297 class of up to 30;  £251 class of up to 20.
KS1 and KS2 Science, Design and Technology
This programme makes the connections in food production explicit and enables hands-on seasonal cooking with an emphasis on dairy products. Pupils will tour our organic dairy farm and visit our vegetable garden collect some ingredients for making soda bread, butter and pancakes for lunch. Risk assessment for the day (pdf)
 
**NEW** An Autumnal Houses and Homes Day (pdf) (term 1 only)
Cost: £268 class of up to 30; £220 class of up to 20.
KS1 Science, Design and Technology, Art and Design.
Hands-on activities include designing and making a simple home for a minibeast to over-winter in and making a clay animal in its home to be fired here. Pupils will also tour our organic dairy farm to see what inputs and outputs are involved in producing organic milk. Risk assessment for the day (pdf)
 
**NEW** An Autumnal Recycled Arts Day (pdf) (terms 1 and 2 only)
Cost: £268 class of up to 30; £220 class of up to 20.
KS1 and KS2 Design and Technology, Art and Design
Investigate the variety of materials we can recycle and reuse, see the many examples of recycling practised at Bore Place and create small pieces of artwork using recycled materials. Activities include making paper, a recycled notebook and a tour of our organic dairy farm. Risk assessment for the day (pdf)
 
**NEW** A Tudor Food Day (pdf)

KS1 and KS2 History, Science, Design and Technology.
An exciting day on our Tudor estate which brings Tudor times to life with hands-on Tudor cooking and tours of our working organic dairy farm and vegetable gardens which highlight as many similarities as differences with farming approaches in Tudor times. Risk assessment for the day (pdf)

**NEW** A Spring Recycled Arts Day (pdf) (terms 3 and 4 only)
Cost: £268 class of up to 30; £220 class of up to 20.
KS1 and KS2 Design and Technology, Art and Design.
A creative and practical day focusing on the ethos of recycling and reusing for environmental and creative endeavours. Small scale mosaic artworks with broken crockery are created by each child and tours of our site and organic dairy farm are made to see how we recycle and reuse resources. Risk assessment for the day (pdf)
 
 
**NEW** A Rocks and Soils Day (pdf)
Cost: £268 class of up to 30; £220 class of up to 20.
Upper KS1 and KS2 Geography, Science, Design and Technology.
A practical day where connections are made between rocks, fossils and soils and the food we eat and energy we use through experiments on different soil types and tours of our organic dairy farm and renewable energy installations. Risk assessment for the day (pdf)
 
A Brickmaking Day  (pdf) (terms 1-4 only)
Cost: £297 class of up to 30; £251 class of up to 20.
KS2 Science, Design and Technology, Geography, Art and Design. 
Hands-on brick making using our own clay and traditional tools and methods, building a brick wall and wattle and daub wall as well as taking a tour of our organic dairy farm. Risk assessment for the day (pdf)

Reception, Years 1&2 Science, Design and Technology.
Pupils will see where flour comes from and grind their own wheat to make bread, find out what a seed needs to grow and plant a seed to take back to school and visit our organic dairy farm to see just where our daily milk comes from. Risk assessment for the day (pdf)

Years 2, 3 and 4 Science, Design and Technology.
From seeing wheat growing in our vegetable garden to making bread, this day is all about where our food comes from and what is involved in getting it to our kitchen tables, includes tour of our organic dairy farm to see what is involved in making our daily milk. Risk assessment for the day (pdf)

KS1 and KS2 Science, Design and Technology.
A day focusing on the choices and consequences made in farming and growing. Informative tours of our organic dairy farm and organic vegetable garden highlight organic methodology and ethos, and pupils will have the opportunity to consider choices of their own when planting a seed to take back to school to grow. Risk assessment for the day (pdf)

Experience pond-dipping and a minibeast search to discover and identify the diversity of our wildlife as well as touring our organic dairy farm to see what is involved in producing our daily milk. Risk assessment for the day (pdf)
 
 

 

Secondary School Trips

**NEW** A Seasonal Cooking Day (pdf) (terms 1, 5, 6 only)
Cost: £308 class of up to 30; £262 class of up to 20. 
KS3 Design and Technology, Citizenship.
A practical harvesting and cooking day where pupils can make connections with the food they are eating, where it has come from and how it’s been cooked. Pupils will share a seasonal lunch they have prepared themselves (either pizza or soup and bread) and tour our organic dairy farm to find out how our milk is produced. Risk assessment for the day (pdf)

KS3 Design and Technology, Science, Geography, Citizenship.
A tour of our organic dairy farm and vegetable gardens enable pupils to appreciate how our food is produced and the benefits of local food. A practical ‘food miles ‘activity enables pupils to examine their own values and ideas about food choices. Risk assessment for the day (pdf)

KS3 Design and Technology, Geography.
A hands-on day that enables pupils to consider some of the complex issues around our food choices and their unintended consequences on others and the environment. Pupils will make savoury corn muffins, tour our organic dairy farm and vegetable gardens, and draw on their own values and ideas to respond to hypothetical food choices. Risk assessment for the day (pdf)
