Heritage Project At Bore Place
2009 - 2010
Following some initial research carried out in 2006/7, Commonwork applied to the Heritage Lottery fund for a grant to conduct an 18 month project on the heritage of Bore Place, both natural and human. Running until summer 2010, the aims of the project are:
-
To open up the natural and human heritage of Bore Place to wider audiences of children, local community and the public
-
To enable children and young people to learn about Bore Place’s heritage and how we can sustain this into the future
-
To enable the local community and wider public to interpret and celebrate Bore Place’s natural and human heritage.
We will be looking at the heritage of the site from 3 angles:
Initial work has focussed on the Iron Age, Tudor Age, Victorian Age and our vision for the future: a Low Carbon Age.
The project currently consists of 5 strands:
- Public Programme of Activities including workshops and open days
- Education Programme for local schools
- Creation of a record of local memories
- Creation of a Heritage Garden at Bore Place
- Improved Public access and signage around Bore Place
If you are interested in receiving information about developments or would like to contribute your knowledge, experience or indeed your memories of Bore Place and the local area please contact us for a chat! You can also sign up to our Heritage Contacts list.
