Visits to Bore Place Commonwork’s education programme is well established with a variety of resources, which means that we can offer a range of programmes and activities that explore the natural and built environment, as well as investigating issues from a sustainable and global perspective.

• Food and Farming suitable for KS2+ Make bread, visit the farm and discuss the choices we can make about food
• Little Red Hen suitable for FS and KS1 Listen to Little Red Hen’s story, make bread, visit the farm including hens, and plant a seed
• Homes and Houses suitable for KS1 Think about homes around the world, design a home for wildlife, visit the hens and the cows in their homes, and make a home out of clay.
• Brickmaking suitable for KS2+ Visit the clay mound, make a brick using Bore Place clay, build a small brick wall, have a go at wattle and daub and visit the farm.
• Environmental Arts suitable for KS1+ Discover the colours, shapes and textures of the natural environment and create works of art, both individual and collaborative pieces.
• Recycled Art suitable for KS1+ What does Reduce, Reuse and Recycle mean? Which is best? Discover the different ways that Commonwork reduces, reuses and recycles, then use unwanted materials to create a work of art.
• Rocks and Soil suitable for KS2+ Investigate the soils at Bore Place: what are they made of; where did they come from; what lives in them? Visit the farm and discover how cows are linked to the soil. Then create a piece of art from Bore Place clay.
• World of Water suitable for KS2+ Who in the world uses the most water? Who in the world has the most water? How can we all use water wisely? Use a variety of activities to explore watery issues around the world.
• A Way with Words suitable for KS2+ Using a combination of inspirational outdoor spaces and creative global texts, create a work of words: tales and poems of your own to take away.
• Natural Habitats suitable for KS1+ Dip into the pond, look under logs and discover who lives where, what they may eat and how they are connected to each other.
• Food Days suitable for KS2+ Discover and discuss the different issues to do with food. Create a variety of recipes from local, organic and fairly traded ingredients.
• Tudor Cooking suitable for KS2+ What did the Tudors do for our food? Discover the origins of some of our foods and have a go at creating a simple Tudor meal.
• Geography on the Farm suitable for KS3+ Find out what are the inputs, outputs and processes on an organic dairy farm. What can we grow on a small organic veg plot and how does it all fit into global sustainability? Use a variety of activities to discover and explore these issues.
• Science on the Farm suitable for KS3+ Find out how the farmer uses science to manage a farm. What are the organic principles and how does it all fit into global sustainability? Use a variety of activities to discover and explore these issues.
