School Visits

Visits to Bore Place Commonwork’s education programme is well established with a variety of resources, which means that we can offer a range of programmes and activities that explore the natural and built environment, as well as investigating issues from a sustainable and global perspective.

Choose from:
Food and Farming suitable for KS2+ Make bread, visit the farm and discuss the choices we can make about food
Little Red Hen suitable for FS and KS1 Listen to Little Red Hen’s story, make bread, visit the farm including hens, and plant a seed
Homes and Houses suitable for KS1 Think about homes around the world, design a home for wildlife, visit the hens and the cows in their homes, and make a home out of clay.
Brickmaking suitable for KS2+ Visit the clay mound, make a brick using Bore Place clay, build a small brick wall, have a go at wattle and daub and visit the farm.
Environmental Arts suitable for KS1+ Discover the colours, shapes and textures of the natural environment and create works of art, both individual and collaborative pieces.
Recycled Art suitable for KS1+ What does Reduce, Reuse and Recycle mean? Which is best? Discover the different ways that Commonwork reduces, reuses and recycles, then use unwanted materials to create a work of art.
Rocks and Soil suitable for KS2+ Investigate the soils at Bore Place: what are they made of; where did they come from; what lives in them? Visit the farm and discover how cows are linked to the soil. Then create a piece of art from Bore Place clay.
World of Water suitable for KS2+ Who in the world uses the most water? Who in the world has the most water? How can we all use water wisely? Use a variety of activities to explore watery issues around the world.
A Way with Words suitable for KS2+ Using a combination of inspirational outdoor spaces and creative global texts, create a work of words: tales and poems of your own to take away.
Natural Habitats suitable for KS1+ Dip into the pond, look under logs and discover who lives where, what they may eat and how they are connected to each other.
Food Days suitable for KS2+ Discover and discuss the different issues to do with food. Create a variety of recipes from local, organic and fairly traded ingredients.
Tudor Cooking suitable for KS2+ What did the Tudors do for our food? Discover the origins of some of our foods and have a go at creating a simple Tudor meal.
Geography on the Farm suitable for KS3+ Find out what are the inputs, outputs and processes on an organic dairy farm. What can we grow on a small organic veg plot and how does it all fit into global sustainability? Use a variety of activities to discover and explore these issues.
