Commonwork is working towards just and sustainable solutions in global citizenship and, through its programmes, aims to encourage exploration and discussion on a range of sustainable and global issues. Our education team offer a variety of learning experiences, both hosting schools and teachers at Bore Place and working into schools or youth groups with students and teachers. Kent and the Wider World, formerly Commonwork’s global education project, is now an integral part of Commonwork’s education programme based at Bore Place, working in a shared approach to the global dimension and sustainable development.
Commonwork’s education programme consists of
- A new Sustainable and Global Schools Learning Network in which 22 schools come together with Commonwork support to share developments, practice and learning.
- School visits to Bore Place for experiential learning on sustainability and the global dimension.
- Student Workshops in schools introducing a range of sustainable and global issues and themes that teachers can develop further
- Teacher training both through INSETs in schools and through Initial Teacher Education (ITE) or PGCE courses in Higher Education
- Sharing resources and information about learning and funding opportunities. Read the SGS Learning Network's e-Bulletin designed to point you towards useful educational resources, events and information on the theme of global and sustainable learning.
